Dangerous Drugs

US, Canada and Puerto Rico

Pharmaceuticals with dangerous side effects can make it into the marketplace if their potential dangers are not discovered in clinical trials, if testing is inconclusive, or if dangerous side effects are not made public (even suppressed by the manufacturer). These harmful drugs are considered defective and may cause serious side effects that offset any intended benefits. Many dangerous drugs get recalled by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), while others receive strict warnings known as “black box warnings.” Some drugs are voluntarily recalled by the manufacturer; in many cases, however, the FDA must remove the product from the shelves.

If you have been injured or become ill because of a defective drug, it is important that you contact the qualified dangerous drug lawyers at Balkin & Eisbrouch, LLC who can answer your questions and evaluate your case.

Dangerous Side Effects

Each and every day in the United States, Americans go to their physician’s office to be treated for an ailment or just to get a checkup. When our doctor writes us a prescription, we would like to think that it is safe and will achieve its intended purpose. Sadly, however, that is not always the case. Every day, millions of Americans take prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications that may result in serious side effects. Some of the most common (and dangerous) reported side effects of dangerous drugs are:

  • Liver damage
  • Cardiac arrest
  • Stroke
  • Blood clots
  • Pulmonary embolism
  • Death

In recent years, a number of prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs and medical devices have made headlines due to recalls and warnings about their potentially severe health risks and side effects.

We have represented clients in the following cases (just to name a few):

  • Celebrex
  • Accutane
  • KETEK
  • Ortho Evra
  • Paxil
  • Reglan
  • Serzone
  • Vioxx
  • Crestor
  • Ephedra
  • Heparin

Unfortunately, as the number of drugs approved by the FDA increases, so will the number of dangerous drug injuries and deaths.
